Don’t read – if you know it already.

PufferFishKnowledge can get in the way of listening.  Already knowing, or thinking that we know, can retard our interest in what others have to say or contribute.  “I know, I know.” we blurt out in so many words.

Listening is a gift that is wrapped in humility. We listen to the person who we think knows less because we have grown up enough to know that they may, actually, know more.

And then, we learn as we listen. We lay aside our pride and our prejudice and discover, in that listening moment, some thing new, something inexplicable, something meaningful that touches our heart.

And we begin to care and to connect.

Please, email your reflections on listening and knowing. Thank you!
